Collaborating on Online Tutorials in Minnesota

an ARLD Dialogue presented by the University of St. Thomas Libraries in partnership with the Academic and Research Libraries section of the Minnesota Library Association

Collaborating on online tutorials for shared library resources in Minnesota was the focus of this ARLD Dialogue. Along with talking about best practices for online tutorials in libraries and how to work together to employ them.

The goal of this dialogue was to establish a collaborative online tutorial program by and for Minnesota libraries.

11:00AM Welcome and lunch
11:15AM Short presentation
  • Best practices and current research on online tutorials for libraries, led by Ryan Carter, UST Libraries
11:30AM Discussion and planning
  • How best to collectively develop online tutorials for common databases
  • Gauging interest among participants for launching such a project
  • Defining scope of such a project, including potential databases to start on, necessary software to create tutorials, format, hosting, and accessibility
  • Identifying next steps and a timeline for the project
