3)) ACRL in Minneapolis
Julie Kelly reported on the April 2005 ACRL Conference in Minneapolis. Deadline for poster session submissions is 11/08/4, and the deadline to submit a Roundtable Discussion proposal is January 10th. Kelly also reported that there will be many opportunities for volunteers. Of special note is that local library staff will be hosts for dine-arounds: opportunities for librarians with common interests (in either topics or cuisine) to eat together. Those wishing to volunteer or to know more may contact Julie or the ACRL Local Arrangements Committee, co-chaired by Terri Fishel of Macalester and Wendy Pratt Lougee of the University of Minnesota.
4) Upcoming ARLD Elections- People were encouraged to run for election to ARLD Board positions. Those open for 2005 are: chair-elect, secretary, member communications, and member-at-large. Those interested were encouraged to contact Kim Clarke clark078@umn.edu or Robin Ewing, rlewing@stcloudstate.edu
5) Announcements
Linda Eels announced that the web page has been improved and encouraged people to use it, and comment on the new arrangement.
Scott Marsalis reported on the ongoing development of ARLD Dialogues, and asked people to suggest further topics for discussion.
Kim Clarke and Anna Hulseberg asked people to look at the new ARLD Brochure, and comment on its usefulness.
Robin Ewing gave an update on the legislative activities of MLA, and on her role as Legislative Liaison.
Anne Mackereth reported on efforts of ARLD to put on an @Your Library session in Minnesota, hopefully in the next year. @Your Library is an ALA initiated program to help librarians learn more effective ways of marketing their libraries and library services. It is the hope of ARLD to make this Minnesota session relevant to academic libraries and their staff.
The meeting adjourned at 1:30pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Newsome,
ARLD Secretary
